- Indra Group USA will expand its manufacturing presence near Kansas City with a new facility designed to support growing FAA demand and next-generation air traffic systems.
- The new site will serve as a Center of Excellence for the production of advanced communication, navigation, and surveillance technologies, incorporating Industry 4.0 processes and automated testing to enhance quality and efficiency.
- As part of its long-term U.S. growth strategy, Indra Group plans to create more than 200 high-skilled jobs over the next three years, reinforcing its leadership in civil and military air traffic management.
- The facility is expected to begin operations in early 2026.
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas, October 30, 2025 — Indra Group, headquartered in Madrid, has announced a $50 million investment in Indra Group USA to build and equip a new manufacturing facility that will significantly expand its industrial and technological capabilities in the United States. Located in the Kansas City metro area, the facility will support the production of radars, ground-to-air communication radios, and air traffic surveillance and navigation systems, and is expected to be operational in early 2026.
The investment is projected to create more than 200 new jobs over the next three years, further strengthening Indra Group’s presence in the U.S. aerospace, defense, and air traffic management markets.
“This project represents a decisive step in our strategy to grow in the United States,” said José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra Group. “It reinforces our position in a highly competitive market where we are already a trusted provider of advanced civil and military air traffic management solutions, while demonstrating our long-term commitment to U.S. industrial development, innovation, and high-quality job creation.”
The new facility will complement Indra Group USA’s existing 78,000-square-foot site in Overland Park, Kansas, where the design, engineering, manufacturing, and assembly of communication and navigation systems are currently performed. That facility has received the “Made in Kansas” seal of approval from the Kansas Department of Commerce in recognition of its contribution to the state’s industrial base.
Together, the two sites will operate as an Indra Center of Excellence, producing state-of-the-art communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) systems critical to the safety and reliability of the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS). The expanded footprint will enable the company to scale production using advanced Industry 4.0 manufacturing processes and automated electronic testing, driving higher efficiency and exceptional product quality.
Production at the new facility is expected to begin with more than 20,000 Indra Park Air radios for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will include the capability to manufacture both cooperative and non-cooperative radar systems.
Over the past year, Indra Group has continued to strengthen its position in the U.S. through strategic contracts across air traffic management, defense, and mobility. Its Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI) technology has been approved by the FAA for surface aircraft surveillance and monitoring and is available for deployment at more than 450 U.S. control towers currently operating without situational display capabilities.
Indra is also a key technology partner to the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy. Most recently, the U.S. Air Force selected Indra’s technology to modernize its Man-Portable Tactical Air Navigation (MP-TACAN) systems, which support advanced military operations by providing accurate and reliable navigation in complex and contested environments.
